Over the course of the next 15 months, I will be participating in a number of fundraisers, challenges, events and more all to raise as much money for Myositis UK.

Myositis UK is a small charity who promote medical research and improve diagnosis, treatment, management and understanding of Myositis. Myositis is a rare autoimmune disease that causes extreme muscle weakness. There is currently no cure for all Myopathies, however the use of steroids, immunosuppressants and other medications can help manage symptoms. Some of these medications are small doses of chemotherapy and can also affect the quality of life. In most cases, it is all about adapting to the condition.

Unfortunately my beautiful mum was diagnosed with Poly Myositis in April 2024, and we are now, as a family, on a road to adapting and testing treatment options, although this will be a long road ahead. Thankfully my mum has been, so far, responsive to her treatment, and we hope that soon she’ll be able to have more of a quality of life back 🥰

As many of you may know, I also have many disabilities myself, some charities who would also make sense for me to donate to, but these are much larger than Myositis UK and have a lot more publicity. Some of you may also know that I was told “if you are lucky enough to make it to 30 years old, you have a chance of surviving” - well I will be 30 and I have lived already and will continue to live and prove the medical professionals wrong. So I’m not only doing this for charity, but for myself too, to prove to myself that I CAN do what I’ve been told that I can’t 🩷
