Story
Silverwood is a co-educational special school for children and young people aged 4 to 19 years. The Trust aims to advance the education of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at Silverwood School in Wiltshire. Since the formation of the Trust over a million pounds has been raised and spent within the school benefiting both the pupils and the local community.
The Silverwood School Charity Trust was founded in 2001 and was originally called the Rowdeford Charity Trust (RCT), the Trust became the Silverwood School Charity Trust in 2023 following the amalgamation of the Rowde, Trowbridge and Chippenham Campuses.
The Trust provides routine funding to support all three campuses and supports major projects.
Examples of the Trust’s projects include:
• The Silverwood Animal Resource Centre (ARC)
• The Outdoor Learning Centre
• Rare breed pig rearing
• Victorian Walled gardens- Restored and created as a working example of a Victorian walled garden
• Apple Store – Restored Victorian Apple Store
• Sports Hall – a shared use facility with the local community.
• Disabled access and Trim Trail
• Wildflower Meadow
• Sensory Gardens
• Woodland Nature Reserve – Pathways were created suitable for wheelchair users.
• Arts Centre – An arts and music therapy centre created from what was a derelict Coach House.
