Charleen's fundraiser for Goldenhar UK

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·
I’m raising money for Goldenhar UK as my little brother has it (though as a child I called it ‘GoldenHeart’ because he was so cute and that’s what I thought it meant!)
Dylan was born in Ipswich hospital on 22.01.98, nearly 4 weeks early. Within 48hrs he was diagnosed with that affects the right side of his body primarily. His facial features are slightly smaller, he is deaf in his right ear and has no ear canal. He also has double scoliosis (curvature of the spine, at the top and at the bottom). He also has Duane's Syndrome which affects his sight, Klippel-Feil Syndrome, which is a rare bone disorder, hyper mobility and suffered from Cyclic vomiting syndrome for a few years following one of his ear reconstruction surgeries.
Dylan has soldiered through a total of 6 surgeries due to Goldenhar.
Now onto the charity; Goldenhar UK is a support group for families and individuals who have Goldenhar, as it’s a much under researched and lesser known syndrome, so the support can make a huge difference to the lives of those who may be affected by it.
I’ve never run a half marathon before, pretty sure I’ve never even managed 10k so training for this around being full-time, international cabin crew is pretty gruelling. But I’m determined to get it done in 2:30-2:45.
