Story

On the 14th February, my life very nearly changed forever. A simple slip on the stairs, left me with a broken back (in two places) and the very real possibility that I may never walk again.

Although extremely painful, and dramatic (I certainly never expected to be hoisted out of my house by fireman), the truth is that i am incredibly lucky. My life story could have ended there... at the bottom of those stairs.

Roll on two months, a successful operation, some truly phenomenal people (you know who you are) who have not only helped me with all the practical things but also kept my spirits high and I'm now ready to take on a marathon.

Ok, so even I'm not crazy enough to attempt to do 26 miles in a day against all medical advice, so with permission from the London Marathon event organisers, I'm attempting to do 26 miles over 9 days.

To put the size of this challenge into context, I've only - for the first time this week - managed to walk a mile in one day - so this isnt going to be easy... but hopefully I can do it with help from all the people who have agreed to walk with me, making sure I've got support on hand if needed.

I'm raising funds for my favourite charity, Cruse Bereavement Support. It's a great charity for so many reasons, but it's times like these when I truly get in touch with how much the support they provide is needed.

Thank you so much for anything you can or are doing to support me in my challenge and also for the cause I feel so passionately about. I'll be sure to keep you updated on my progress!
