I am talking part in this trek together with my daughter Gracie and my dear friend Mandy and her son Harrison. Both of our families have had our lives affected by Alzheimer's, which we have seen is a cruel and progressive disease.

Charlene and Gracie's story

Mum's health journey started in April 2023 being diagnosed with Lung Cancer. Mum's chemotherapy and radiotherapy started in September until she had to be hospitalised and suffered a number of seizures , with they suspected was limbic encephalitis. However , a neurologist has since confirmed it is Alzheimer's probably linked to the cancer. Mum is affected by memory loss in not remembering her own home, and her mobility is poor in needing assistance with most activities . Mum and my sister are living with us for 24/7 support with the assistance of a care package.

Mum , you have been through so much , we all love you so incredibly much , and we promise to support you, love you and look after you always, as you have always done for us.❤️
