Team multisport endurance stage race · 10 July 2025

We create initiatives providing employment to ex-offenders, the first of which is XO Bikes. We provide training inside, employment outside & pastoral support on all sides. Over 400 studies show that employment is the single most important factor in reducing reoffending rates.

Story

The UK Challenge is a team multisport endurance stage race that encompasses both the physical and mental challenges in the Lake District. It starts on Thursday 10 July at approx 1400 and finishes on Saturday 12 July at approx 1600.

The Light Dragoons Veterans Team are all military veterans who have had a wide of experience serving overseas. Training for the UK Challenge started in January with trail running, mountain biking, canoeing, solving puzzles and stage strategy. They will be competing against 90 teams drawn from across the business and corporate world.

The team are raising money for the UK Challenge charity for 2025 - Onwards and Upwards which seeks to break the cycle of reoffending by training prisoners to be fully qualified bike mechanics and in the near future as barbers. There is a large ex forces community in prison who have found the transition from the military to civilain life very difficult. So every £ we raise may help an ex forces member to have a new start.
