Story
After completing the first half last winter, I will be attempting to run the full Spine Race in January 2026. This is a 268 mile ultra marathon along the full distance of the Pennine Way. I will have a week to complete the challenge, will be carrying all of my kit and most of my food on my back, and based on what I saw last time may well end up getting some sleep in an unmanned snow plow. Here is the link to get a better idea of what's in store:

There will be Mountain Rescue Teams situated along the course, as well as being in contact with Race HQ who are monitoring each runner via GPS at all times. Traditionally a lot of Spine participants raise money for their local mountain rescue teams. Whilst we have no mountains as such in Wiltshire (not to put down our lovely hilly landscape) I thought I'd try and raise some money for our own Search and Rescue. Having met them at previous events closer to home it's clear that the work they do deserves to be recognised. This work is voluntary and includes going out into unknown environments both on land and in the water to find missing and vulnerable people, using equipment which obviously needs to be bought and maintained.
Wiltshire Search and Rescue is not goverment funded and relies on charitable donations from the public so if you would like to help then any and all donations will help!
Alternatively, if you want to help me on what will be the hardest thing I attempt. I will be very gratefully accepting of any snacks to help fuel my run, specifically high carb stuff!
