Story
In September, I’ll be running the Stevenage 10K to raise money for Beat.
Beat are a UK charity which support anyone suffering from an eating disorder, aiming to end the pain and suffering caused by this illness. This support also extends to friends and family, as well as the professionals working with or worried about an individual in their care.
I know far too many people who have, and currently are, suffering from an ED, and have seen its horrible direct and indirect impacts. This illness can not only be extremely isolating, but also straining on relationships - and has the potential to steal childhoods and pull families apart.
Unfortunately, there is a stigma about who should, and shouldn’t, suffer from this illness. However, no one should feel that they are suffering alone. Beat often acts as the first point of contact for many sufferers - or indeed anyone concerned about another individual, providing hotlines and resources 365 days a year for anyone that needs them.
My hope is that any funds raised can help Beat achieve their mission, whilst raising awareness and knowledge about this illness.
I am extremely grateful for any support and funds donated, particularly during this time of such uncertainty
