As a Finalist in the Teen category for Galaxy Pagents UK. I have decided to use my title and platform to raise money for this amazing charity by swimming the length of the English Channel in February. ( In a local swimming pool, so there's no risk of sharks or frostbite!)

The Christie charity raises money for a range of projects and initiatives focusing on four main areas: research, care and treatment, education and extra patient services. These services are above and beyond what the NHS provide, enabling The Christie to give their patients the best care and treatment possible. Your donations really do have an impact at The Christie. Without the support of their fantastic fundraisers, they would not be able to give their patients and their families the level of care and support that they do. From providing continuous funding for the Cancer Information Centre and Wig Service, helping patients and their families cope with the effects of treatment, to raising money for new developments such as the recently opened Teenage and Young Adult unit, your donations are having a positive impact every single day.

This year, the funds that UK Galaxy Pageants raise will go towards the Endocrine Therapy Pilot. Most women (70%) treated for early breast cancer have oestrogen receptor (RE) positive disease, with recommended treatment of adjuvant ‘anti-oestrogen’ endocrine therapy (ET). Women on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for menopausal symptoms must stop taking this at breast cancer diagnosis. The pilot aims to provide solutions to the significant and mostly un-met medical needs in this diverse patient cohort.
