Running the London Marathon for The Sick Children’s Trust
In April, I will be running the London Marathon to raise money for a charity that means so much to our family, The Sick Children’s Trust.
The charity provides families with a welcoming and supportive place to stay close to the hospital while their child is seriously ill. This means parents can remain near their child without worrying about accommodation costs or being miles away when they are needed most.
When our little boy, Brooks, was on life support in intensive care in Cambridge, The Sick Children’s Trust gave us somewhere to stay just minutes away. It was one of the most frightening and traumatic times of our lives. Leaving your sick child in hospital, even briefly, without knowing whether they are going to recover is an unbearable feeling.
Being able to stay close to Brooks, without the added worry of finding or paying for accommodation, meant everything to us. The kindness, practical help and emotional support we received took away a little of the pressure during an incredibly difficult time.
Running the London Marathon will be a huge personal challenge, but knowing that every mile could help another family remain close to their sick child will keep me going.
Any donation, no matter how small, will help The Sick Children’s Trust continue supporting families when they need it most. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would also mean so much to us.
Thank you for supporting me and this incredible charity. ❤️
