Story
Hi I'm Charley and I am running the 2024 London Marathon for We Are All Making A Difference (WAAMAD), a wonderful and selfless charity which I have been immersed in since a young age. My Dad, David and late Uncle Robert were heavily involved and hence it holds a very special place in my heart.
WAAMAD distributes funds to individuals and organisations who have no administrative overheads and to organisations who do not have the ability to raise funds themselves.
Donations have previously helped fund a huge variety of amazing causes, from holidays to Disneyland Florida for children with life threatening illnesses and their families, to helping children with Cerebral Palsy access specialised therapy. Funds have also been used to set up music therapy for elderly groups that suffer from dementia. It goes without saying that I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be raising money for such important causes.
I started my running journey in January 2023, when my best friend Lottie somehow convinced me to go on a run with her. It’s safe to say I caught the running bug. For the last 11 months we have been running multiple times a week, pushing ourselves to new limits. However, if someone said that I would be running the London Marathon in less than 18 months I would’ve laughed. And yet here I am! When the opportunity arose to support such an incredible cause we simply couldn’t say no.
Unfortunately, I will now be crossing the finish line alone as Lottie is ruled out due to injury (our running duo will be back and better than ever in 2025). However, I am determined and committed to doing it for both of us and for the charity, and am excited to continue on my training plan.
Thank you in advance for any donations :)
