University of Glasgow Security team - National 3 peaks challenge · 23 August 2024

Homeless Project Scotland is a charity supporting homeless, vulnerable & less fortunate families across Scotland. We provide full outreach support, hot & cold food, clothing, toiletries, & living essentials to those in need and a 24hr support line that offers a listening ear to anyone in need.

Story

The University of Glasgow Security Team will be taking part in the National 3 Peak Challenge on the 23rd/24th of August 2024. The challenge is to complete the highest mountain in each of the 3 UK mainland countries, Ben Nevis 1,345m (SCO) Scafell Pike 978m (ENG) and Mount Snowden 1,085m (WAL) in a 24hr period. In total we will cover 23 miles (43km) with an ascent of 3064 meters (10,052ft) on foot all while driving a total distance of 462 miles between each start/finish point.

As we all live and work in Glasgow and the surrounding areas, we see first-hand the work Homeless Project Scotland do across the community and feel this challenge would be an excellent opportunity to fundraise for a worthwhile cause.

Participants are Charlie Bell, Shaun Scott, David McLeneghan, Robert Graham and Juan Figueira De Abreu with assistance from Conall Rodgers and Matthew McFadzean

Our purpose is to feed and provide support to homeless and vulnerable people. We also act as a trusted voice for the homeless and It is vital that we have integrity. We aim to be effective, efficient, independent and trustworthy. Our approach is to listen, learn, act and then speak.
