2025 Port of Leith Abseil · 11 May 2025 ·

Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

You read that right. On 11th May 2025, eight brave (and possibly slightly crazy) members of our team are taking on an exhilarating challenge to raise money for the MS Society Scotland. We're abseiling down the iconic Port of Leith Distillery, a 100ft drop that we’ve been assured is thrilling. (We’re still not convinced, but we’re doing it for a good cause!)

Let’s be honest, heights are definitely not our thing. But this charity is incredible, and the cause is far too important to ignore. So, we’re facing our fears to support those affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). Every donation, big or small, will truly make a difference by funding research, providing advice, and offering essential services to those living with MS.

More than 17,000 people in Scotland live with multiple sclerosis — a condition that affects nerves in the brain and spinal cord and impacts how people move, think and feel. The symptoms are different for everyone, and because they’re often invisible, it’s hard to truly understand the challenges people with MS face. MS Society Scotland is doing all the hard work to provide vital support, fund research, and campaign for better rights for those with MS. So, while we're up there clinging to a rope and hoping we don’t scream, we’ll know it’s worth it.

How Your Donation Helps:

£50 - is enough to operate a high-powered microscope for an hour to study cells and tissue affected by MS at the necessary resolution.

£100 - is enough to process 4 blood samples and extract information about genes and the immune system that is vital when testing out new treatments.

£250 - is enough to run an MRI scanner for an hour and provide the detailed images of the brain crucial for understanding MS progression.

Our Goal: We’ve set a fundraising target of £1,600 (£200 each). Help us smash that goal and support this incredible cause!

How You Can Help: Please consider donating to our page today. Every penny counts, and no donation is too small. If you’d like to support us in other ways, feel free to leave words of encouragement on our page or share our fundraiser with your network.

Thank you for supporting us and MS Society Scotland! We can’t wait to take on this challenge, knowing we’re making a difference (and that we’ll never have to do this again... probably).
