Climbing Whernside 3 Months Postpartum for The Birth Trauma Association ⛰️

Charlie Thomas is raising money for Birth Trauma Association (BTA)

Mountain Climb

The Birth Trauma Association supports families affected by traumatic childbirth. We also campaign to raise awareness of birth trauma and improve training of health professionals, as well as lobbying policymakers to improve care during and after childbirth.

Story

After the birth of my third baby I have witnessed the spectrum of birth and the full impact birth trauma can have on women and their families. The Birth Trauma Association supports parents - both mothers and partners - who are experiencing distress after a traumatic birth, whether that's full-blown postnatal PTSD (which affects about 30,000 women a year) or other forms of distress such as depression or anxiety. Birth trauma can be immensely difficult to live with, and parents often find there is no one they can talk to about the experience. Birth is at its core endurance and I want to represent the strength and endurance of women who have been through birth trauma by climbing to one of the highest points in Yorkshire three months postpartum.
