I'm Trekking the Sahara for CoppaFeel!

In November 2023, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The majority of 2024 has been a rollercoaster—six rounds of hardcore chemotherapy, a single mastectomy, and radiotherapy. To say it’s been a 'challenging' year is an understatement!

But through it all, I’ve gained a new perspective on life. I’ve learned that a positive mindset can completely reframe even the hardest challenges. Maybe this experience was meant to push me towards making bold, positive changes. Because let’s be honest—would I have had the confidence (or the fu*k it attitude) to sign up for a 100km trek through the Sahara Desert before all this? Absolutely not. But here we are!

This November, I’ll be boarding a plane to Marrakech with 100 other trekkers to take on a five-day hike through the desert, walking all day and camping under the stars each night—all to raise vital funds for CoppaFeel!

Why CoppaFeel?

CoppaFeel! is the UK’s only youth-focused breast cancer awareness charity, dedicated to getting 18-24-year-olds checking their chests. They educate, empower, and encourage young people to know the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, so they can seek medical advice early—because early detection saves lives.

I may not be in that age bracket, but I’m on a mission to raise awareness for everyone. I didn’t check my chest enough, and when I did notice something, I left it far too long before seeing my GP. I worried I was overreacting or wasting their time. If I had gone sooner, my treatment plan might have been very different. By the time I was diagnosed, my cancer was advanced, with multiple tumours (one measuring 8cm) and had spread to my lymph nodes.

Because of everything I’ve been through, I’m now on a mission—not just to raise awareness, but to push myself physically and mentally to take on this challenge. I need your help to make it happen.
