In 2026 I’ll be running the Manchester Marathon alongside my mate Harri well.... “alongside” might be generous, I’ll mainly be eating his dust as he disappears into the distance.

Harri and his mum, Vivanne ...or Llami, or Vivsta depending on the day... have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. She’s my mum’s best friend and has always been an unofficial auntie to me. Earlier this year, Viv was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. It hit all of us hard. You can’t prepare yourself for that kind of news.

The moment Harri told me he was running the marathon to raise money for the MND Association Yorkshire Dales Branch, I knew I had to join him.

There’s currently no cure, but the MND Association works tirelessly to support people living with the condition and the families who stand beside them. Seeing how the Yorkshire branch has already helped the Dineens has made it very clear why this charity matters.

I’ve set a target of £1000, and every donation, big or small, genuinely makes a difference. It helps fund support, research, equipment, and the people who show up when families need it most.

50% of anything raised over my fundraising pledge of £450 will be donated to the Yorkshire Dales Branch of the MND Association.
