Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Some 120 voices of Exeter Festival Chorus and friends under its Musical Director Andrea Brown are thrilled to be performing the monumental masterpiece of the early Baroque, Monteverdi’s Vespers 1610, in Exeter Cathedral on 11 July 2026 at 7pm.

The period instruments of Devon Baroque Orchestra and The English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble will add an authenticity to the texture. The acclaimed vocal octet Contrepoint will deliver Monteverdi's elaborate motets in a style reminiscent of 17th-century choral music.

Vespers 1610 bridges the Renaissance and the Baroque, and dazzles with its kaleidoscope of styles, by turns intimate and majestic, serene and dramatic, spiritual and sensual, producing an array of sound taking us on an uplifting musical journey.

This innovative and memorable event can only take place through the generosity of our friends, families and colleagues whilst sustaining future EFC concert programmes in Exeter Cathedral. We incur considerable venue and professional musician costs unmatched by our ticket income. A donation of £10-20 will help us reach our target. Please share the link with your networks. Thank you.
