Story
I am raising money for the Charity I founded after my late friend Freddie Lawer. The Fantastic Freddie Foundation runs regular, fun and age appropriate social opportunities for young disabled adults so that this underserved community get to enjoy their youth like everyone else.
Freddie was a young man with severe disabilities, yet did not let this define him and certainly did not let this stop him enjoying his life to the max. Freddie was able to experience life the way he wanted, with no one able to tell him otherwise. Unfortunately, a lot of his peers in the disabled community weren't as lucky as Freddie and faced barriers in the way of simply having fun.
The fun part of life should not overlook anyone, and it is just as important for this community as any medication or equipment. The Fantastic Freddie Foundation gives its community the chance to embrace young adulthood, positive risk taking and gives people the opportunity to live their lives just as their peers in the wider community do. We are changing attitudes around what a young person with disabilities "should and shouldn't be doing".
Club Nights, festival trips, wellness days, dating events, sports events and much more - the foundation gives young disabled people the opportunities they deserve in an authentic way with small adjustments. It costs almost £1000 per month more on average for a family with a disabled person to live, our services are free or heavily subsidised so that money is not another barrier to participation. We never charge more than 20% of what an event costs to put on.
I am raising money for this charity so they are able to continue putting on these brilliant opportunities for its service users, and keep them affordable to everyone can access it. The FFF does not have membership fees, and absorbs almost all the costs of its services - so without funding it cannot continue to do the important work it does in the community. Please give whatever you can and take a look at our website!
