Charlie's Ironman 70.3 for ACE SMA

Bolton Ironman 70.3 · 8 June 2025 ·
On Sunday, 8th June 2025, I will be taking part in my first Ironman 70.3, in Bolton. This challenge consists of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride, and a 13.1 mile run – making up a total of 70.3 miles! This has been on my bucket list for quite some time, and felt it was now or never!
However, this journey is not just about personal achievement; it’s an opportunity to support a cause that is very close to my heart. I will be raising money for ACE SMA, a fantastic charity founded by my dear friend, who are dedicated to raising funds for clinical research and treatment for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). My amazing goddaughter lives with this condition, and I hope to channel her incredible determination as I strive to cross the finish line! I am incredibly proud to be a trustee of this fantastic charity and want to do all I can to help raise awareness.
SMA is a rare genetic condition that can lead to muscle weakness, breathing difficulties, delayed motor skills, and challenges with crawling and walking. Unfortunately, it worsens over time; however, there are medicines and treatments available that can help manage the symptoms. Every penny raised will go directly towards ACE SMA's vital work in raising awareness of SMA and funding crucial clinical research.
I would be immensely grateful for your support—whether through your encouraging words or generous donations. My target is £1,000 to help ACE SMA continue their important mission.
Thank you so much for your support; it’s all beginning to feel very real now!
