Story
I've decided to walk/run 1000km to raise money for Mind. Starting on the 4th of July, I'll be aiming to finish it within two months (which averages at over sixteen kilometres a day).
I've struggled with my mental health for as long as I can remember, being diagnosed with bipolar disorder, OCD and anxiety. This had led to a couple of hospital admissions (the most recent being in November), where I've been sectioned for my own safety.
During these times, I've felt pretty scared and alone. Luckily, Mind have been there to help. I've spent hours scrolling through their website, learning my rights, and researching what to expect, different types of treatment etc. Reading other people's stories helped me realise I wasn't on my own. They've also been massively helpful for my wife, Vicky.
To raise money for them, I plan to cover a distance of 1000km.
I'm mainly going to walk it - but will probably include some running too. I'll be walking varying amounts each day, depending on the weather, energy levels, injuries etc and will have the odd rest day. If things don't go to plan and I can't finish it in two months, I'll keep going until I hit my goal.
I'll post updates regularly on Twitter, and will connect my Strava on here.
