Story

The Sick Children's Trust - Giving Families One Less Thing To Worry About.

My best friend Sophie gave birth to my beautiful Godson Austin on the 27th May 2024. At just 15 hours old, he was rushed to Addenbrooke's in Cambridge where he underwent major surgery for TOF/OA.

Austin was born with Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula, which is an abnormal connection between the oesophagus and the trachea, meaning food couldn't reach his stomach. After a successful operation, he spent the next 10 days in NICU for recovery.

During this incredibly stressful time for Sophie and her husband Jim, the wonderful Sick Children's Trust provided accommodation and invaluable support at The Rosie Hospital, so that they could be close to Austin every day.

The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that provides a welcoming ‘Homes from Home’, where families with seriously ill children in hospital can stay. Not only do they alleviate financial worries, but they also help the mental wellbeing of the families they support.

Thankfully, Austin is getting stronger (and cuter) by the day, however it'll be a long road for him, Sophie and Jim, with potentially more surgery needed in the future.

I'm running the Great North Run 2025 and raising money for this brilliant charity who gives so much to families when they need it most. Any donations would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you!
