Story
I’m excited to share that I’ll be taking on two ultra-marathon trail races this year — the Bath 50k on 28th March and the Cotswold Way 100k on 13th June — to raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer.
A close friend’s daughter was recently diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer, and seeing what their family has been through has been truly heartbreaking. Beyond the emotional toll, it’s brought challenges that most families never expect to face. They've received great support from Young Lives vs Cancer to help them navigate applications and access vital support at a time when everything felt overwhelming.
Young Lives vs Cancer supports children and young people with cancer, and their families, from the moment of diagnosis onwards. Their specialist social workers provide practical, emotional and financial support, helping families navigate benefits, grants and other support. They also offer free accommodation near hospitals, so families can stay close together during long periods of treatment.
Running these ultras will be tough, but it’s nothing compared to what children with cancer and their families face every day. If my running can help even a little — by supporting families when they need it most — then it’s worth every mile.
Thank you so much for any support you can give’
