Charlie's Dechox

DeChox · 1 April 2025
I am giving up chocolate and sugary treats for one month to raise money for East Cheshire Hospice.
Anyone who knows me knows that I have a rather large sweet tooth. I love chocolate biscuits, will have a bag of pick 'n' mix any time its offered, and regularly relax with a hot chocolate.
During the month of April, at a time when shops will be inundated with chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs, I plan on giving up not just chocolate but anything sweet and sugary for an entire month. This includes any cakes and biscuits that are in the office, the chocolate bar I regularly have with my Tesco Meal Deal, any coke or lemonade, and definitely any Easter eggs.
All money raised will be going to East Cheshire Hospice in memory of my mum, Heather, who was taken great care of there.
East Cheshire Hospice has a 15 bed in patient unit, and offers art therapy, pre and post bereavement counselling for adults and children, the Sunflower Centre, an onsite physiotherapist, occupational therapists and a lymphoedema specialist. Also on site are spiritual support and a catering team preparing fresh meals for patients and visitors. There is also a Hospice @ Home team who go out to patients houses to care for them in the comfort of their own homes.
These services are delivered by a dedicated and integrated work force of over 100 staff and over 300 volunteers.
To help them meet their £9,000+ a day running costs, the Hospice relies on it's two charity shops and fundraising efforts like this, and the 15 Hospice led events each year.
