Blindfolded Hike - Charlie’s Journey

Ethan Casement is raising money for CCLG: The Children & Young People’s Cancer Association

Blindfolded Hike · 22 June 2025

Children's Brain Tumour Research Fund at CCLG is funding research to improve understanding of children's brain tumours and to find new, less damaging treatments.

Story

I am fundraising for the Children's Brain Tumour Research Fund because I want to help find better treatments for children with brain tumours like Charlie.

Charlie was born in 2011, he was a healthy baby weighing 9lbs. At only 12 months he started losing weight and turning into a different boy very fast. After lots of trips to doctors and hospitals, in 2014, he was told he has a brain tumour. This news was heartbreaking. He has now undergone multiple treatments and brain surgery, he is also registered visually impaired. I have attached his page below.

When I first met Charlie, I realised how strong him and his family are, they have really inspired me to help others like him and his family. Charlie is a very upbeat boy despite his hardships in life.

I am planning to do a hike on the tallest peak in the Peak District ( Kinder Scout) whilst blindfolded. Me and a few others are going to do this to hopefully inspire Charlie, and others, and help them to feel supported through difficult times.
