Story
Today, more than 50 million are trapped in modern day slavery.
That’s 1 in every 150 people in the world;
• 28m are in forced labour, including forced sexual exploitation.
• 22m are trapped in forced marriages, including 12m children.
These are the official 2021 statistics.
Andrew & Charlotte are climbing Mt Kilimanjaro with International Justice Ministries (IJM) to raise funds to support their bold vision to rescue millions, protect half a billion, and make justice for people in poverty unstoppable.
IJM's successes so far have been, nearly 480,000 people brought to freedom, and 10,000 convictions of traffickers, rapists and other violent abusers. If you would like to know more about IJM's work please see their website https://www.ijm.org
Mt Kilimanjaro is 5,895m high and is the highest mountain in Africa. We will be attempting to hike it over 7 days alongside an IJM team. Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro will be the hardest physical challenge we’ve ever undertaken, and we would be really grateful for your support and prayers. We couldn't think of a better charity to be doing this with.
Would you please consider sponsoring us. We hope to raise a minimum of £5,895, £1 for every metre of the mountain.
• £35 could provide crucial aftercare for a survivor.
• £50 could send a team on a rescue operation.
• £105 could support a trafficking investigation.
• £160 could provide legal representation for survivors.
• £240 could fund Trauma counselling for a survivor.
• £607 could cover a legal team for a week as they work to hold traffickers accountable.
These are only suggested donations. We will be grateful for any donation of any value, as every penny will go towards releasing an enslaved human being into freedom.
