Martin House supports children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, across West, North and East Yorkshire. Our vision is that every child and young person has access to palliative care when and where they need it.

Like any family we never imagined we would ever need to use Martin House. Rosa our daughter was diagnosed with BPAN in August 2023 at Leeds Childrens Hospital. This is a life limiting genetic condition (not passed down from parents) and slowly causes cognitive decline which leads to Parkinsonism and Dementia at an early age. In itself comes with lots of other factors like epilepsy, dystonia, effected vision.

The word ‘Hospice’ is a scary thought but actually since Rosa has been diagnosed they have been our go to place for absolutely everything. Not only do they provide respite but they are also a listening ear and the events they put on for the children really are magical.

Martin House have not only touched Rosa’s heart but ours as a family which is why i have chosen to set a PB in the Great North Run this year for this amazing charity.🩷
