I’m running the Hastings Half Marathon to raise money for the Oakley School Playground Project — something that means a great deal to me and to the young people in our school community.

Oakley School supports young people with complex special educational needs, and the right environment can make an incredible difference to their daily lives. For many of our pupils, outdoor space isn’t just somewhere to play — it’s where they feel calm, build confidence, regulate themselves, socialise, explore their senses and experience moments of independence that might otherwise be difficult.

This project will create a safe, accessible outdoor environment designed specifically for their needs. A place where they can move freely, learn through play, connect with friends and staff and enjoy being outside.

I’m passionate about the impact this space will have — not just today, but for many years to come for the young people who will use it.

The playground is currently 80% concrete and not an engaging space for the young people we support.
