We’re attempting a 100k Paddleboard · 19 July 2024

With a new blood cancer diagnosis every 27 seconds worldwide, Cure Leukaemia funds research nurses at UK blood cancer centres, giving patients access to treatments through clinical trials. This support drives global significant advancements in blood cancer, impacting those affected by the disease.

Story

Little Harry’s annual golf day is on 19th July and I’m normally there to support. This year instead I’ll be attempting a 100k paddle board challenge, the Trent 100.

Tragically Harry passed away on 21st September 2016, it was 8 days after his 6th birthday. Debbie (my cousin) and Matt and all of their friends and family regularly take on fundraising in memory of Harry - Matt and his team even ran to Paris - so this is a small attempt to raise some much needed funds for Cure Leukaemia.

Cure Leukaemia helps blood cancer patients to access pioneering drug and transplant treatments by funding a network of specialist research nurses across the UK. Without these nurses, to ensure patients are monitored and cared for, clinical trials of these new treatments would not run and patients, that have exhausted standard treatment options, would miss out on potentially lifesaving therapies. Every penny raised for Cure Leukaemia helps save lives and also hastens global progress towards the eradication of all forms of blood cancer.

I’m attempting (note the word attempting) to complete 57k on day one in order to profess to day two. Thank you to CJ and Charli my paddle team who are making me to do, and let me set up these fundraising pages to support two charities close to my heart- Cure Leukaemia in memory of Little Harry and St Christopher’s Hospice (see other page) who looked after my lovely friend Sam until she sadly left us in June 2023.

Thank you!
