Welcome to my Great Manchester Run profile page for Diabetes UK. As many as 4.9 million people are living with diabetes in the UK right now. One of those people is my partner, James. He became critically ill at the age of 21 when he developed Type-1 Diabetes. Now at the age of 29, he lives with the day-to-day reality of a condition that never takes a day off. According to research conducted at Stanford University, people with diabetes (particularly those using insulin to manage their condition) make 180 more decisions each day about their health than someone without diabetes. They also live with the constant fear of the potential long term consequences, not only for themselves but for their families.
