Improving nursery school facilities at Kiine School
The Nursery School at Chamba Valley provides pre-school education for about 90 young children, in nursery, middle school and pre-grade classes. The current premises comprise an old bungalow, built over 70 years ago and a 2 classroom block, built by Mission Direct in 2008. In 2025, we plan to build a 3-classroom block and office, which will allow the classes to move from the unsuitable bungalow into modern accommodation and expand to cater for more than 150 children. An option to repair and improve the bungalow has been discounted as the funds can be better invested on new facilities.
The new premises will allow more children to be better prepared for primary school and will act as an income-generating venture for the Evangelical Church in Zambia, which will run the facility. The estimated cost of the project is £25,000. In addition, we plan to paint a number of recently-built classrooms, at an estimated cost of £3,000.
I am going to Zambia in July as a volunteer to help with the building and painting of the new nursery block. In addition to the physical work I will be interacting with the children in the schools as well as meeting children and families out in the wider community. I’m asking for you to help support the cost of this building work so that more children in Chamba Valley will have access to all important education and socialisation and with this, a more promising future.
All of the donations go to support the work of the charity that is mainly run by self funding volunteers. If you are able to make a donation to Mission Direct please consider, if you are a tax payer, ticking the gift aid box.
I’m looking forward to this new experience and meeting and working with the Chamba Valley community.
Thank you
Fiona
