Story
I’m running the London Marathon in memory of my wonderful uncle, Gordon.Â
After being diagnosed with a rare type of cancer, Gordon peacefully passed away on the 31st July 2023. During the last weeks of his life, Gordon showed immeasurable strength and continued doing what he did best; being an amazing husband, dad, grandad, brother, and friend to many. He always put other people before himself and found ways to make people smile and laugh, even on his hardest days. He made the most of each day to make precious memories for his beautiful family (and my mum) to keep forever.Â
Before Gordon passed, he wrote a letter to his friends and family. In this he wrote ‘if I have made you laugh, or brought you a brief moment of joy, then I have been more successful than I ever could’ve wished for’. It’s safe to say that Gordon did just that; he touched the lives of so many people and he is so missed.Â
We will forever be inspired by Gordon and I am so proud of his wonderful wife Amanda, my mum, and his amazing children for being so strong.
The care Macmillan provided meant Gordon was able to stay at home with his family and they will forever be grateful for that.
Thank you SO much for supporting me! Let’s hope I can make it to the finish line without being sick this time 🥴 !!!Â
