Story
Five years ago, my brother Tom, was diagnosed with ME. It is a cruel and life-changing illness, which is under-funded and under-researched. It has been 4 years since I have fundraised for ME and for this reason, I have decided to do my small part in supporting Action for M.E
Action for M.E. are working to ensure that adults, children, young people and families living with M.E. are able to access the support they need.
I have committed to taking part in 2 events over September and October. Both events are fitness challenges and this is because anybody who knows Tom, knows he loves to take part in sport and exercise (and he is annoyingly good at most sports 🙄!) but his diagnosis has meant he is no longer able to exercise in the capacity (or to the frequency and intensity) he used to enjoy. I am planning to push myself out of my comfort zone and:
1. Compete in the ‘Battle Cancer Challenge’ - a strength and fitness challenge for teams of four. The goal is to hit 20,000 reps in 90 minutes across two rounds of five fitness stations. A rep is a metre moved, weight lifted, rep completed.
2. I will also climb Snowdon in October
Grateful to be able to participate in these activities and it is so important to raise money to support this charity to better understand and support those with ME. Wish me luck 😊
