Hey everyone!

I'm doing something very out of character and running a 10k (potentially quite slowly) for a very, very good cause....for the charity I work for and love, LGBT Foundation!

Now, I've worked for LGBT Foundation for 12 years now, proudly stewarding the delivery of our services to upwards of 20,000 LGBTQ+ people nationally every year, so you can trust me to know how huge the impact of these services is in the lives of our community members.

We deliver a helpline to provide a listening ear and advice when people need it, domestic abuse support helping people to leave harmful situations safely. We deliver support to those who have experienced sexual violence and offer sexual health testing, events and information, as well as support to help those struggling with substances or alcohol. We have our amazing Village Angels, out every weekend rain or shine keeping people safe in Manchester's Gay Village, we even support those who have been victims of crime or need legal advice, as well as providing LGBTQ+ affirming therapy when people are struggling with their mental health. Honestly, even this is only a small flavour of the work that goes on at our place, and whilst we are a national charity, like the symbol of our Manchester HQ, we really are busy bees 🐝🐝🐝

It's been my great honour and privilege these past 12 years to work for, and amongst, my community, and I'm so proud to be part of the team as this wonderful organisation turns 50! So, to celebrate our 50th Anniversary, staff from across our teams are trying our hands at fundraising for the Great Manchester Run 10k.
