Strengthening access to quality diagnostic imaging in underserved areas of low- and middle-income countries. Educating and supporting professionals in the use of relevant and appropriate diagnostic imaging equipment and techniques.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 13th December I am taking part in Centurion’s 200 mile continuous trail run. The route is a giant loop around the south of England, starting in the shadow of Box Hill and taking in the North Downs Way, Vanguard Way, South Downs Way, Wayfarers walk and St Swithuns Way. With 16 hours of darkness a day and whatever the weather December decides to throw at us, it is set to be a massive adventure.

I have decided to fundraise for WWR, as this is a charity that helps improve access to medical imaging for low and middle income countries. This charity is one which my Dad is a trustee in and is working on some projects for alongside other radiologists within the UK and The Gambia. This run is a massive undertaking, and significantly further than I’ve ever run before so I will be giving it my best shot! Any donations would be greatly appreciated :)

A bit about the charity:

WWR is a UK charity focussed on improving access to quality imaging in health care for all. It was founded and is run by UK based radiologists working with partners and volunteers. Medical imaging has revolutionised the practice of medicine for those who can access and afford it. However, the majority of people in the world do not have access to even the most basic imaging tests. Even where such tests are available there is a shortage of skilled trained staff.

WWR supports the development of appropriate, high quality imaging services in low and middle income countries; from central teaching hospitals to remote district clinics by training and working with healthcare staff to build the necessary skills and capacity to improve patient care e.g. Point of Care Ultrasound courses in Ghana.

WWR aims to increase opportunities for imaging research focused on local or national healthcare priorities, and to provide advocacy and remote clinical support to services.

WWR has been working mainly with partners in Sub-Saharan Africa such as Ghana, The Gambia, Malawi, but welcomes collaborations from across the world - breaking down barriers and advocating together for imaging for all.
