My smallest baby was born with cleft lip and palate. I was heartbroken at my 20 week scan and was taken completely by surprise. I spent the second half of my pregnancy so worried and upset over the unknown. My little girl arrived in March and is the love of our lives, I had nothing to worry about and every person she meets is blown away by her big beautiful smile. I dread to imagine where we would be without the support of the cleft nurses at BCH and the support of CLAPA. With all the advice and free resources we were able to take our baby home comfortably feeding on bottles provided in the welcome pack, I’d love to be a part of keeping families like ours well supported. Me and baby will be walking a mile a day to help raise funds to support CLAPA they way they have supported us.
The Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA) is the UK’s cleft lip and palate support charity. The charity brings together people affected by cleft to help them connect with others who share their experiences, welcoming them into a supportive community for life.
CLAPA’s purpose is to make sure no one affected by cleft in the UK goes through their journey alone.
