The Paul Alan Project raises awareness of the signs of cardiac arrest; providing basic lifesaving and defibrillator training to the public and organisations for free. We also raise funds for the provision and installation of Public Access Defibrillators and Bleed Control Kits for community use.

Story

I am raising money for the Paul Alan Project, which raises awareness of the signs of a cardiac arrest, provides basic life support training for free and raises funds for the provision and installation of public access defibrillators and bleed control kits.

As some may know, my dad Kenny recently suffered an unexpected cardiac arrest whilst on a bicycle ride. He is only alive today because a brave and selfless member of the public (who we later found out was a woman called Brigid) decided to perform CPR on him, in the middle of the street, including using a defibrillator from a nearby public shopping centre several times.

Because my dad had his cardiac arrest outside of a hospital, he had less than a 10% chance of surviving, and an even lower chance of surviving with no brain damage. Thanks to Brigid, two weeks in Hammersmith Hospital ICU and a quadruple bypass surgery, I'm so grateful to say my dad has made a full recovery. By supporting charities like the Paul Alan Project, I'm hoping that the same will be said for anyone else that this happens to in the future.
