Story
Since becoming a parent in 2023, my whole perspective has changed. Having my own child made me realise just how precious, fragile, and overwhelming those early days can be—even when everything is going well. I honestly can’t begin to imagine how incredibly hard it must be for families whose children are seriously ill, or who are facing long stays in hospital.
That’s why I’ve chosen to support this amazing children’s charity as I take on my half marathon. The support they give to children and their families during their most vulnerable, frightening moments is truly life‑changing, and if I can play even a small part in helping them continue that work, I feel honoured to do so.
The generosity of the local community makes this happen. It costs almost £6 million every year to provide hospice care for local children, with only 21% of this funded by the government. You can show your support by fundraising, volunteering, taking on a challenge, playing the Chestnut Tree House lottery, or leaving a gift in your Will.
