Story
I became a care support worker at 17 years, experiences in domiciliary care has enlightened me but dementia and Alzheimer’s is very close to me, I have seen how it effects and impacts many people from all walks of life, some days are harder than others but being such a big part of people’s life is so rewarding, you become apart of a family, part of a team. Just by walking into someone’s house with a smile and having a little chat about old memories makes that person feel cared for and listened to.
Dementia is the UKs biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and currently there is no cure. We know it is scary but we must confront the biggest health & social care challenge of our time. We owe it to the 1 million people across the UK currently living with dementia to campaign for change, whilst providing vital day-to-day support. By taking part and raising money, or donating to someone who is, you are helping to do this.
Once you donate, JustGiving sends your money directly to Alzheimer's Society you don't need to do anything and it's the most efficient way to fundraise. So, who will you walk for? #MemoryWalk
