Story
We are helping Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team to replace their essential communications vehicle / ambulance.
This is extremely important to us as in October we embarked on a three-day expedition across the Scottish Highlands.
At around 6pm on the first night, Charlotte fell and sprained her knee, and during this Tom began to develop hypothermia. This was extremely frightening to us but luckily we were in a group of experienced ex-scouts including a doctor and had the equipment needed to keep us safe in the mean time.
The Lochaber Team promptly reached us on foot due to bad weather, and stayed with us until morning when a helicopter was able to land and transport us to safety.
The team use the mobile control van, with satellite communication options, to speak to other agencies, such as the Coastguard, Police or Amulance teams as well as their base while operating in remote areas.
It also doubles as an ambulance providing a resource for transporting injured people safely to either meet their colleagues from the Scottish Ambulance Service at the public road, or transporting them directly to hospital in some scenarios.
The new van will cost £120,000 to replace and we want to do our best to help them.
