Story
I am taking part in the Tommy's 5km a Day in October challenge to help save babies' lives.
In March 2025, I experienced a molar pregnancy – a rare complication where the cells that should form a healthy pregnancy grow abnormally inside the womb. Instead of developing into a baby, this tissue grows in a way that can cause serious health risks. It was an incredibly difficult experience, leaving me to face a recovery I never expected. It happens in around 1 in 1,200 pregnancies, and for many, like me, it brings not only the heartbreak of losing a much-wanted pregnancy but also months of hospital visits, tests and treatment. Along with ongoing monitoring and increased risks for potential future pregnancies. It’s something most people have never heard of until it happens to them, and that can feel incredibly isolating.
I’ve chosen to take on this fundraising challenge in support of Tommy’s, the UK’s leading pregnancy and baby loss charity. Tommy’s funds groundbreaking research into pregnancy complications, miscarriage, and baby loss, while also providing vital support and information to families who go through these devastating experiences.
Raising money for Tommy’s is deeply personal to me. I want to help ensure that others facing molar pregnancies and other forms of baby loss get the support, answers, and hope they need along with raising awareness of molar pregnancies. By completing this challenge, I’m honouring my own journey while contributing to a future where more families have the chance to experience safe and healthy pregnancies.
Every donation will make a real difference – funding research, improving care, and giving families hope. Thank you so much for supporting me and this cause so close to my heart. Diolch o galon. 🩷
If you are facing a molar pregnancy or pregnancy loss, please know you are not alone. I understand how heavy and isolating it can feel, and I’m always here if you need someone to listen, share your story with, or simply sit alongside you in your grief. 🖤
