I'm fundraising for HCPT, a charity that provides life-changing holidays in Lourdes for disabled and disadvantaged children, including some with life-limiting conditions.

As many of you know, I’ve had the privilege of travelling to Lourdes for many years, and it holds a very special place in my heart. A few years ago, I joined HCPT’s Easter pilgrimage as a helper in a family group. That experience gave me a deeper understanding of the challenges these incredible children face every day. It was both humbling and inspiring and left me determined to help more children experience the joy and magic of Lourdes.

This year, I’m fundraising specifically for HCPT Groups 194 and 230. These groups are filled with amazing children, and I want to do everything I can to ensure they have the opportunity to experience this transformative week in Lourdes.

People often ask me why I volunteer for something that can be so physically, mentally and emotionally demanding. My answer is simple: the children make it all worthwhile. There’s nothing like the moment when a child who struggles to talk or open up shares their story with you. Or when a child who finds it hard to trust holds your hand, smiling and confident. And there’s no greater joy than hearing a child laugh so hard they can barely breathe. Those moments are priceless.The children give back so much, despite the challenges they face every day. They inspire me with their strength, resilience, and joy. They’ve taught me lessons I carry with me every day, and I feel privileged to have been part of their journey.

In 2023, I was honoured to run the London Marathon to raise funds for a very special little girl to travel to Lourdes. She was one of the happiest children I’ve ever met, lighting up every room with her smile. Despite her daily challenges, her positivity was contagious, and I’m so grateful I was able to help her experience a week filled with fun, laughter, and lifelong memories.

Although I’m not travelling with a HCPT group at Easter this year, I’m still passionate about supporting this wonderful charity. My mission now is to continue raising money to help more incredible children in Groups 194 and 230 experience the joy and magic of Lourdes 💚❤️🩵🤍
