Story
On Saturday 24th August, we as a family, will be walking the 5 Mile Coastal Trail to support the Dundee Maggie’s Centre.
Everyone knows someone affected by Cancer and it can be devastating news to families, friends and loved ones; something we experienced this year when, Graham, our Dad was diagnosed with cancer.
All the staff at Ninewells and PRI were incredible and so supportive and kind, but the Maggies centre gave our family so much.
Not only a space to talk, cry, ask questions and sit to have a cup of tea in silence, a quiet space to think, somewhere to go before and after treatment, they also advised and sorted travel insurance so Mum and Dad could go on holiday, which after a cancer diagnosis, is daunting. You always got a smile, a hug and a few biscuits when you needed them.
Everyone who works at Maggies is genuinely so caring and knowledgeable, they even look after people’s dogs while they’re at treatments or give you the car parking code to make your arrival at the hospital less stressful! Nothing is out the question and it’s such a welcoming and warm space, it turns something so negative into a more positive experience.
We as a family know how much Maggie’s positively impacted Dad’s cancer journey and how our experience wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t have access to them, and we know how many other people feel this way so support us supporting them, if you can, so we can keep this incredible support and centre running 💛
