In 2023 I sat at home spectating one of my friends complete the gruelling 26.2 miles, otherwise called; the London marathon.

 Watching her go through a multitude of emotions, including pride and excitement I had the “fantastic” idea of applying myself for the 2024 race. And would you believe it, after my first ever application I received an email saying “CONGRATULATIONS, YOU’RE IN”.

 It was 2023 when I received this news and within this time I became pregnant with our third little bundle and made the decision to defer until 2025. So here we are 96 days away from taking part in THE actual London marathon.

Many of you will know that I have worked at Weston hospital for a whopping 16 years. Alongside this I’m fortunate enough to work as a nurse at Broadway Lodge, otherwise known as the ‘miracle mansion’, with the most wonderful bunch of colleagues and the most fantastic, supportive and knowledgeable medical team.

 Broadway Lodge was established over 50 years ago in 1974 and is proudly one of the leading and most respected abstinence-based addiction treatment centres in the UK. They provide residential rehabilitation to people suffering the illness of addiction to alcohol, illicit and prescription drugs, gambling, sex and gaming, as well as treatment for co-dependency. This includes medically managed detoxification for individuals who require this element.

 Broadway lodge provides, accommodation, a tailored recovery plan, holistic and medical therapies, as well as a balanced nutritional diet for those undergoing treatment.

 With a 24/7 medical team, counsellors, support teams, senior management and a board of trustees being only some of the amazing people who make all of this possible; as a registered charity the support from generous supporters is hugely appreciated.

 Every penny that is donated to Broadway Lodge goes towards making the lives of their clients at Broadway Lodge better whilst also helping to secure the survival of the much-needed work. Whether this might be paying for a 4-week charity bed placement, medication, counselling sessions or group activities, everything is put towards transforming lives.

 I am in no means “a runner” but am dedicated to training and raising for a fantastic cause. If you would like to support me on this journey all donations are hugely appreciated!
