Walk for Matilda
Sunday 10th November, 9 am Oakview Stables
On 8th October 2024 Matilda went for a routine blood test, that evening the Mannings lives were turned upside down. Matilda was called back to the James Paget Hospital and on the following day, referred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where she was diagnosed with leukaemia.
Matilda has Down Syndrome, but this has never stopped her! Sadly, having Down Syndrome means she is more genetically predisposed to AML (Acute Myeloid Leukaemia).
Currently, Matilda has gone through the first round of chemotherapy, she has done amazing & remains well, staying her normal smiley self, throughout.
Matilda, Claire, and Ben remain in Cambridge whilst her two older sisters are back home, 90 miles away. This is heartbreaking not only dealing with Matilda being poorly, but it has forced the girls to be separated from their mum, dad, and little sister, who they adore.
Due to this, both Claire and Ben have had to stop working, they are travelling back frequently to try and maintain some sort of normality for Ruby and Maisie whilst the other stays with Matilda.
Ruby and Maisie would love to raise money for Acorn House, as a family they can spend time away from the hospital and have a tiny amount of near normal time. Acorn House is run by the Sick Children’s Trust. They rely solely on donations and charity events. The girls would love to reach £400.00, this amount would cover 10 families to stay for 1 night.
We are going to do a sponsored walk, timings above, departing from the riding school in Hopton, to Gorleston and back, to raise as much money as possible to help in any way we can.
Sponsorship forms are available from Charlotte. Once monies are collected, 100% of the money raised will go to Acorn House, run by the Sick Children’s
