Story
We (Charlotte and Sam) are running 61km around Staffordshire in September 2026 to visit all Mum's favourite places to raise money for charity. We are running 61km in memory of the 61 years that our Mum lived.
Charlotte is also running the London Marathon in April 2026 as a training run for this event in order to raise money and awareness for brain cancer.
In early 2021, our Mum was diagnosed with a Stage 4 brain tumour. Despite facing surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and clinical trials with incredible strength, she sadly passed away in October 2024. Heartbreakingly, Mum missed the chance to meet her two grandchildren by just under two weeks. We did everything we could to make the most of those four years, but it was the most difficult time our family has ever faced.
Brain tumours are relentless and are often diagnosed too late, with limited treatment options and little hope offered to patients and their families.
We witnessed first hand the physical and emotional toll this disease takes—especially suffering from the lack of effective treatments and critical funding for research. It's a deeply underfunded area, despite the prognosis for people diagnosed with brain tumours being so low.
In the UK, for all malignant primary brain tumours:
~50% survive 1 year or more.
~25% survive 5 years or more
We are raising funds to support vital research, improve treatment options, and bring hope to other families facing the same battle. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to a future where no one has to go through what we did.
Thank you for your support—it truly means the world.
