Story

Thank you for visiting my page.

My partner, Sol, was diagnosed with an ultra rare type of cancer in November of 2023.

A little bit of Sol's journey so far.

After my dad passed away in the summer of 2023, sol started experiencing severe headaches which progressively worsened over a couple of months. Alongside this, he experienced strange sensations, changes in his vision and loss of use in his right arm/hand. We initially put it down to the stress of the summer and justified it away with other reasons such as carpal tunnel etc. Sol just got on with it until he eventually went to the GP.

From here, Sol had a lot of investigations, multiple MRI’s, CT’s and biopsies. We then got the diagnosis of Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma. This is a slow growing however relentless cancer which had metastasised from a lump in his thigh, to his spleen, lungs and 2 tumours in his brain. This now means it is incurable.

Sol has had 2 craniotomy’s, radiotherapy and is now on a clinical trial of immunotherapy at the Christie in Manchester. So far keeping his cancer relatively stable.

MY POINT IS - Sol had a seemingly harmless, despite being achy at times, lump on his leg which he had noticed for roughly 5-6 years prior to his diagnosis. He put it down to being hit by a car when he was younger and never thought anything of it.

My advice is to keep track of your body and if something is different or doesn’t feel right, get it checked.

To raise awareness of Sarcoma’s and raise money for research which is Sarcome specific. I will be doing a series of running challenges over the next year! Starting with a Half Marathon in Birmingham on the 20th of July.

I’m supporting Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. By supporting me, we can help change this. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep our Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care.

Thank you for your support.
