Hi everyone, this is my lovely cat, Gilbert!

On Thursday the 12th of October he was hit by a car. He sustained a bad fracture to his pelvis.

The surgeon agreed that the break could heal on its own, but that Gilbert would need to manage the pain he was in before he could be sent home.

On the following Monday after 5 days in hospital Gilbert was rapidly declining and need a feeding tube. At that point my partner and I made the very difficult choice that we would have to put him to sleep as we couldn’t afford anymore vet bills, we booked the appointment for 6pm that same day.

By an absolute miracle, when the surgeon came on shift at 5pm and found out we had decided to put Gilbert to sleep, the vet practice and the surgeon decided that they would source money from their various charity pots and fund Gilbert to have surgery to fix his pelvis.

Gilbert is home now and is making a remarkable recovery!

On the 6th and the 14th of December, I will be in the office, raising money to give a little back. There will be a table set up near the kitchen on the ground floor on both days with a selection of sweet and savoury baked goods.

The veterinary practice (after enquiring) has said they would like to raise money for Sophies Fund, a small charity that helps financially burdened people and families with unexpected bills, cost of living payments, food etc.
