6-10 miles a day for the month of November · 1 November 2024

The OddBalls Foundation is the UK's leading charity raising awareness of Testicular Cancer. We educate people on the basics of Testicular Cancer, remove the stigma and encourage regular self checking to promote early diagnosis; ultimately, saving lives! #FightingCancerTakesBalls

Story

Uncle Eddie is one of our most favourite people. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer a month ago. Exercise is really important to him and he usually exercises every day. He swam the length of Lake Windermere to mark his 40th birthday and to raise money for charity just 2 weeks before he noticed a change in his testicle. Not being able to exercise due to the impact of surgery has been really hard both physically and mentally for Uncle Ed. He is at a point he can hopefully start to build up his activity levels, which will help him through his chemotherapy treatment. We want to increase our activity levels alongside him whilst raising awareness and funds for an important charity, The OddBalls Foundation.

The OddBalls Foundation is the UK's leading charity raising awareness of Testicular Cancer.

Testicular Cancer is the most prominent cancer in men aged 15-49, with around 2,400 new cases in the UK every year, that's more than 6 every day. However, if detected early, Testicular Cancer is one of the most curable cancers.

We have learnt a lot about testicular cancer through Uncle Eddies diagnosis and we want to raise awareness so our mates, and hopefully their mates have this knowledge and will seek help quickly, if needed in the future.

My name is Samuel, age 14 and I am running 10 miles a day for the month of November. My brother Oliver, who is 12, will run, bike or swim 6 miles a day. Our younger sister Pip, age 9, will swim 10 lengths every day. Pip has just got out of a wheelchair onto crutches after breaking her femur 9 weeks ago.

This will be a challenge for all of us in different ways. However, it will be nothing in comparison to the challenge Uncle Ed is facing and the 6+ young men a day who are diagnosed with testicular cancer in the UK.

We hope this shows Uncle Eddie how much we love him and that we have his back 👊💙
