Charlotte Aucamp is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

Lake District Ultra Challenge 2025 · 7 June 2025 to 8 June 2025 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

I am raising money for Alzheimer's Society.

On June 7th I am taking part in an 100km Ultra Challenge in the Lake District. To make it more interesting, the 100km (62 miles) trek, should be completed in 24 hours. As people that know me, know I like a challenge...this is probably my hardest yet!

I originally signed up to this self funded challenge as a new goal, but as time has gone on, I am realising how difficult this is going to be. It is going to be physically and mentally one of the hardest things I have ever done. Therefore, I would really like to raise money and have a driving force and a smile on my face, for when the going gets tough.

I would like to raise money for Alzheimer's Society as my lovely 'Step' Dad and Mum are experiencing this first hand and as a family, not only is it incredibly difficult for the individual suffering with it, but also for those around them. This is just another way for me to show them my support.

The shocking stat that '1 in 3 people will be diagnosed with dementia in their lifetime' is sadly all too real. Many of my friends are also living with a loved one that has dementia, so I am doing this challenge for them too.

Alzheimer's Society is working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. The charity, not only, does research to develop effective treatments, improve care and ultimately find a cure, but also provides information and support, vital to not only individuals who have dementia, but for those around them.

By completing this challenge, and pushing myself to the extreme, I hope to contribute to this charity which has helped my family and brings hope to the future.

Any donations and messages of support, would be so greatly appreciated. The funds will really contribute to me in completing this extreme challenge and ultimately help many others dealing with Alzheimer's in their lives. Thank you for your support!
