Story
In 2023, I lost my daughter Charlotte to her addiction to alcohol. She was just 39 years old.
Charlotte fought incredibly hard against this illness. She attended rehabilitation three times and genuinely wanted recovery, but a combination of poor mental health and difficult life events made that battle too much to overcome. Losing her has been utterly heart-breaking for me and our whole family.
Out of this pain, we wanted to do something positive in Charlotte's memory.
Charlotte deeply cared about people who were struggling, especially those who were homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. That compassion is why we have chosen to support The Canaan Trust, a local charity that works tirelessly to help homeless individuals and those threatened by homelessness by providing food, practical help, and dignity.
To raise funds for Canaan Trust, my partner Chris, along with our friends Matt and Darren, will be walking 90 miles over three days, from Long Eaton to Chapel St Leonard.
Myself and my friend Marie will be supporting the walk by driving alongside with supplies and walking between meeting points, covering as many miles as we physically can.
This walk is not only a physical challenge but also a tribute to Charlotte- her strength, her kindness, and her desire to help others who are facing hardship.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read Charlotte's story and for any support you can offer.
Charlotte's mum, Karen.
